Jim’s newspaper report - The Grousebeater
It is always nice to see some of our younger members doing well in the competitions, this week it was the turn of Finnley Richards, he returned a score of 41 points to take second place in this week`s Shoprite League. This was one shot better than John Quirk, but the guy with the biggest smile on his face on Tuesday was Grant Leece, he recorded a great score of 43 points to take the top spot. When I went down to the club on Monday to collect the results of the Club Championship, I was meet with about 10 different sheets showing who had won last week and this, the result of the seniors, the winners in the main comp and all the nett results, so you can imagine I was a bit confused to say the least. The main thing to report is that, as this is a Gross Competition, it is those results that matter the most. In the seniors it was Gary Ashe who took the honours with a score of 152, this was two shots better that Peter Easthope. In the main event the prize went to Rob Noon, his combined score was 135, this was one shot better than Liam Cowin, so well done to both of our worthy winners. I would like to end this section by saying a big thank you for all the fantastic sponsorship we get from our friends up at Ocean Ford, they have been great supporters of this event over the years and it is greatly appreciated by everyone at the club. Sunday saw the St. Dunstan Cup take place, yet again it was another Medal, Ryan Edge came second with a score of 69, this was bettered by Ben Clarke who took first place with a score of 68. I would like end with a note about the fact that the club has now introduced the option to self-input your own scores using your smart phone, the fact that we had almost two hundred playing on Saturday show this needs to be the way forward, having said that, I don`t know what I am going to do, I am not saying my phone is old, but the text is in Latin. If you would like to use this option, you can have a word with the Pro Shop, and they will run through things you. The Grousebeater. |
