Douglas Golf Club. Golf Report - The Grousebeater It was great to hear the news from the Government that they were finally letting all the golf courses re-open on Monday, so you can imagine everyone`s frustration when it was announced that Pully would not be resuming until Thursday. I had already put my trolley battery back on charge, as well as my yardage watch in anticipation of getting a game, I had unplugged them weeks ago as I was getting concerned about how much it must have been costing me to keep them charged, in fact, I was beginning to loose sleep over it. I kept thinking about what my playing partner and fellow Scots Man, Rab Millar would have said if he had known that I had been wasting money. I would never have heard the end of it from him. I know that when we do manage to get out for a lap it will not be the same as playing with our usual fourball but at least it is a chance to try and get our swing back to some kind of resemblance of what it was like when we played every week. My swing used to play off scratch. All we can hope that this is one of the first steps to us all getting back to some kind of normality. One thing I have saved money on is not having my hair cut, I am still waiting on the Grooming Kit I have ordered for my dog, and I am getting more and more tempted by the thought of giving my hair a cut with it when I do finally receive it. One thing I have noticed now is that my hair is getting longer is that how much more grey it is getting, I did say to the other half that I thought I was beginning to look at bit like Richard Gere, she just laughed and said “in your dreams” then turned away saying something about me being on a different Planet. If things don`t go well with the Grooming Kit, I may end up looking like Yul Brynner. As I mentioned before, hopefully this is the beginning of things getting back to how it used to be before this dreadful virus came along. One thing I think we will reflect on in the future is how well the vast majority of us have behaved and worked together to help defeat it. Remember to phone your Mum and Dad. The Grousebeater. |
