Golf Report from The Grousebeater
I will need to ask everyone to give me a bit of leeway when reading this week`s report as due to the fact that I was off-Island I don`t know what the weather conditions were when the various Competitions were played and due to the correct advice that we have all been given to self-isolate, I have been unable to call into the Club House to catch up with things.
The Club held its usual Club night Stableford on Tuesday, there was only a small entry for this and it finished with only two guys actually beating their Handicap, Peter Shimmin continues his fine form to finish second with a score of 37pts, but the best score of the day was recorded by Gary Wilson, it is great to see Gary back playing and he topped the table with a score of 38pts, not bad when you consider he played off Scratch.
The Red Cross Salver was the prize on offer on Saturday, and it was nice to see, that despite the current climate there was well over a hundred players taking part. In third place was Jamie Curtis with a 63 nett, second spot went to young Tommy Fenlon with a 62. In first position was Chris Coxon, he finished well clear of the field with a 79 – 20 = 59. Chris always does a great acceptance speech so I will look forward to that when it happens.
Sunday once again saw a good turnout, this time it was a Stableford that was held. In third spot was Harry Wilson with a score of 36pts. This was bettered by Richard Mulhern with a total of 38pts, but Francis Hunter managed to better that by one to take the top spot with 39pts. I am away now to chip some balls in the back garden, that is the only Golf I will be getting for a while. Stay Safe. The Grousebeater |
