Golf report
There has not been much to report on this week as once again the weather played havoc with the Golf planned at the course, with both Tuesday`s and Sunday`s competitions cancelled due to the dreadful conditions.
The only day that did see any Golf played was Saturday and even then, the conditions were pretty awful. There was a gale-force wind blowing all day, but at least it did not rain. I was unable to play that day, but I still called into the Clubhouse for a cup a tea and you could see the shocked look on the faces of everybody who had played - windswept was definitely the look for the day. I have to say, I was surprised that there was still a good turnout, with 38 teams taken part in a 16-hole 4BBB. In third place, with a score of 36pts was Andy Compton and Paul Bridson. They were beaten on the back seven by the pairing of Peter Shimmin and Ian Howarth. The duo who did their best to master the conditions was Steven Hawley and Paddy Redmond, they retuned a very fine score of 38pts to take the honours. At this stage, I usually put that we should be looking forward to the weekend to get some more Golf in but at the time at writing this, it looks like storm Dennis is going to be a menace and cause more disruption to come Saturday and Sunday. We will just have to wait and see.
